While at Minnesota, Ryan was an All-American runner for the Golden Gophers and has been a Cross-Country and Track coach at Eden Prairie High School since 2005 where he has coached numerous state champions. Besides running and being a coach, Ryan enjoys being active and enjoying the outdoors.
